24-year-old Saptak Talwar from Delhi, who played college golf in U.S., has returned to Asia and tasted early success finishing 3rd after rounds of 73-69-68 (6-under 210) at the US$ 100,000 BRG Open in Da Nang, an Asian Development (ADT) Tour event in Vietnam.
Talwar was making his debut on the ADT, which makes his top-3 finish even more impressive. A graduate in Political Science from Sacred Heart University, outside New York City, Talwar had, during the Pandemic, qualified for the PGA Tour Canada.
For the first time this season on the ADT, all four Indians in the field made the cut. Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, the winner last week in Indonesia, and Asian Games-bound Khalin Joshi, tied for 15th while Samarth Dwivedi finished 31st.
The ADT tour will return to Indonesia in two weeks but it is not clear how many Indians will be back playing since the PGTI season will also kick off in full swing.
