Shubhankar Sharma, who’s enjoyed a strong second half of the season in Europe shot 70-72 (-2) to miss the cut by 3 at the Aviv Dubai Championship, and narrowly missed out on a top 60 place in the Tour rankings which would have got him into the US$ 9mn DP World Tour Championship scheduled from Nov. 18-21.
Sharma will now begin his 2022 season with the European Tour’s Johannesburg Open, a tournament he won in 2017 in South Africa.
In 2021, Shubhankar made 17 cuts in 28 events in Europe, registered a tied-3 finish at the Open de Espana in October and earned a total of US$ 510,000 (₹3.8 crores) in prize money to finish 68th in the year end rankings, a creditable performance by the youngster.
