Shubhankar Sharma’s season hasn’t turned out for him as it started
27-year-old Shubhankar Sharma, who was coming off a top 10 finish following a stellar showing at the Open championship in July, tied for 36th at the US$ 9mn BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in England.
Sharma made the cut by one shot and played steadily over the weekend to finish in the middle of the pack. It is the first time since June that he has made consecutive cuts. Sharma finished tied for seventh last week in the Irish Open.
He earned 53,211 euros and currently stands 48th in the European Tour Rankings with 778.01 points from 19 events. The top-20 on the list earn their PGA Tour cards for next season.
Sharma will next play the US$ 3.25mn Cazoo Open de France from Sept. 21-24.
The BMW tournament is famous for inviting celebrities and other sports stars such as Gareth Bale (football), Tom Holland (actor), Kathryn Newton (actress), Sir Andrew Straus (cricket) and more.
