27-year-old Shubhankar Sharma who had a brilliant 8th place finish at The Open championship in July but missed the next cut in Switzerland, bounced back with a 7th place finish at the US$ 6mn Horizon Irish Open at the K Club in Ireland. In fact he led after 36 holes after an amazing front nine 7 under par on Day 2 but after rounds of 65-66-75-71, he ended 3 shots behind the winner.

Shubhankar made US$ 138,800 (₹1.2 crore approx) to add to the US$ 350,000 approx ( Rs 3.3 crores) he earned at The Open and moved to 49th on the Race to Dubai Rankings .
Sharma now has two top-10s in his last three events, with a missed cut sandwiched in between. It’s been an inconsistent season for him so far, so it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his form in the US$ 9mn BMW PGA Championship in England from Sep. 14-17.
