Shubhankar Sharma, 28, has been having a steady season on the European Tour, with two top-10 finishes that have positioned him 57th in the rankings. Notably, his third-round 63 on the iconic Old Course, St. Andrews, at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was his lowest score of the season, bettering his earlier 65s at the Amgen Irish Open and the Genesis Scottish Open. It was also the third-lowest round of the tournament, following Tyrrell Hatton’s and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen’s 61s in the third round and John Cameron’s opening 62.
Sadly Shubhankar dropped down the leaderboard on the final 9 holes with an 8 on the 14th followed by a bogey, so he finished almost at the bottom of the players who made the cut.
With six weeks remaining in the season, Sharma needs to break into the top 50 to qualify for the prestigious season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Tyrrell Hatton—former PGA Tour winner and now a member of Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII team on the LIV Golf circuit—clinched the title with rounds of 65-68-61-70, finishing an impressive 24-under 264. Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts claimed the runner-up spot.
The other Indian playing Om Prakash Chouhan, missed the cut after rounds of 71-75-71.
