24-year-old Shubhankar Sharma from Chandigarh, had a splendid final day run by shooting 63 after rounds of 70-71-77 to end with a total of 3-under 281) for a tied-32nd finish at the US$1.5 mn Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor in Wales. His final round 63 consisted of an eagle and seven birdies and was his best round since his final round 62 which helped him win the US$ 3mn Maybank Championship in Malaysia in February 2018.
In 2021, Shubhankar has played in 17 events on the European Tour, made nine cuts and earned over US$ 110,000 (₹84 lakhs) for the season.
Other Indians in the field included former European Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar and Asian Tour winner Ajeetesh Sandhu. Ajeetesh shot 73-76 (+7) and Gaganjeet 74-76 (+8) to miss the cut line set at 2-over par 144.
