Shubhankar Sharma, continued his fine run of form on the European Tour with a 9th place finish, picking up US$ 160,000 (₹1.2 cr) at the US$ 8mn BMW PGA Championship, one of the 5 richest events on the tour,  at the hallowed Wentworth Club outside London. His rounds of 70-69-68-66 and total of 15-under 273 was only 4 shots behind the winner. 

With his 3rd top 10, but by far his biggest cheque this year, Sharma’s season earnings jumped to US$ 415,000 (₹3 cr approx) safely securing his playing rights in Europe for 2022 and moving him to 78th on the European Tour’s Race to Dubai Rankings and close to making the top 70, which qualify for the DP World Championship in Dubai in November. With 8 more events to go, Shubhankar, who is enjoying a surge in confidence, looks on track to break into the top 70.

Sharma now heads to Netherlands, where he will be joined by SSP Chawrasia and Ajeetesh Sandhu for the US$ 1.2mn Dutch Open from Sep. 15-18.
