25-year-old Chandigarh golfer, Shubhankar Sharma, has recently made 8 cuts in a row on the European Tour. Shubhankar believes the difference is his change of approach to an 18 hole round, where he has started creating smaller targets for himself in order to stay focused and not run up a bad score on any one hole.
In a recent interview with Dubai based golf writer Joy Chakravarty for Hindustan Times, Shubhankar shared how he has started his own mini game inside the game, where he plays four holes stretches as mini tests.
He said to himself, “Instead of having long term plans, let’s play smaller games, and the round just took care of itself.” The process has helped him starting from the Cazoo Open in Wales, where he finished tied-9th in August, jumping him to 78th on the Race to Dubai Rankings, which secured his playing status for the 2022 European Tour season.
Sharma has added 126 birdies and 10 eagles in his last 32 rounds which has helped him shoot a number of low scores.
