 Rohit who plays from Madhuban Resort, a Police course in Karnal, Haryana achieved a breakthrough, shooting 74-72-68-69 (5-under 283) to win the Indian Golf Union’s Tamil Nadu Amateur Golf Championship at the 6540 yard par 72, Coimbatore Golf Club. 

Rohit’s remarkable performance placed him four strokes ahead of Vinamra Anand from Noida, who recorded scores of 71-72-72-72, and Anshul Kabthiyal, who also finished at 1-under 287. Sumit Kotwal from Bangalore, who led after the first 36 holes with sterling rounds of 68 and 66, struggled over the final two days with rounds of 77 and 77 to finish fourth at even-par 288. To put that in perspective. Rohit was 12 shots behind Kotwal after the first two rounds but made up 17 shots over the final two rounds. 

Incidentally, Rohit finished seventh in the Telangana Amateur Championship in Hyderabad two weeks ago, showing his game is progressing strongly. 

The IGU Men’s circuit will be on a summer break of two months and resume in September.
