17-year-old Sneha Singh, a two-time winner on the WGAI from Hyderabad and former All India Amateur Champion is headed to Thailand for the upcoming Thai LPGA Q-School from Jan. 24-27 at Watermill Golf Club in Nakhon Nayok in Thailand.
The qualifier will host a maximum field of 132. After 36 holes, the field shall be cut to the leading 60 and ties, who shall then play a further 1 round. After 54 holes, the top 20 will be in category 8 on 2023 Thai LPGA Tour Priority List and the rest will be in category 9 and 10.
The Thai LPGA usually plays its tournament for a minimum purse of US$ 35,000 (THB 1,200,000) over the season but also features some significantly larger purses – far more lucrative than the prize money available on the Indian domestic tour.
Thailand’s depth and talent in the past decade has grown exponentially, led by the Jutanugarn sisters – Ariya and Moriya and in 2022 by Atthaya Thitikul, who reached World No.1 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings – a testament to the level of competition and quality of golf , growth opportunities the Thailand LPGA could provide to Sneha and other Indians.
Sneha will first compete in the two domestic events scheduled for Pune and Mumbai in January, which will kick off the 2023 Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour of India (HWPGTI).
