Only five of the 13 Indians in the field made it past the halfway cut at the Asian Tour’s US$500,000 Indonesia Open. Leading the large Indian contingent was 25-year-old Saptak Talwar, a former PGA Tour Canada member, who scored 69-67-68-68 to finish 6th at 12-under 272. His efforts earned him US$11,464 (₹9.62 lakhs).
Former Asian Tour winner Khalin Joshi, of Bangalore, was next best Indian at 30th while Veer Ahlawat, currently India’s brightest young prospect, finished a disappointing 33rd.
Gaganjeet Bhullar, who has won the Indonesian Open three times was at 34th while another veteran, S.S.P. Chawrasia, a two-time Indian Open champion, rounded out the Indian presence, finishing tied-44th.
Indians who missed the cut included Rashid Khan, Chikkarangappa S., Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Karandeep Kochhar, Angad Cheema, Varun Chopra, Ajeetesh Sandhu & Honey Baisoya.
The Asian Tour is now headed to South Korea for the US$ 1mn Shinhan Donghae Open from Sep. 5-8.
