
19-year-old amateurs Aditya Garg and Shat Mishra won Pre-Qualifying I and Pre-Qualifying II respectively to stake out their spot in the Final Stage of the PGTI Qualifying Tournament
The race for qualification in the TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) Qualifying Tournament 2025 intensified as the first two Pre-Qualifying stages concluded at the Golmuri Golf Course in Jamshedpur. Nineteen-year-old amateurs Aditya Garg and Shat Mishra emerged victorious in their respective pre-qualifiers, leading the field into the Final Qualifying Stage.
Pre-Qualifying I
Pune-based Aditya Garg displayed exceptional consistency, carding back-to-back rounds of six-under 65 to claim top honors at Pre-Qualifying I with a total score of 12-under 130. His commanding performance left him four shots clear of the rest of the field. Reflecting on his win, Garg credited recent swing changes, which held up under tournament pressure.
From a total field of 105 players, the top 24 advanced to the Final Stage, with the cut set at one-over 143. Sourav Choudhary of Mhow (69-65) secured second place at eight-under 134, while local golfer Kurush Heerjee also managed to earn his spot in the Final Stage, finishing tied 18th at one-over 143.
Pre-Qualifying II
Gurugram’s Shat Mishra continued the trend of amateur dominance, winning the Pre-Qualifying II with a composed three-under 68 in the final round. His total of eight-under 134 placed him three shots ahead of his nearest competitors. Mishra, a nine-time junior champion, showcased a solid all-around game, recording five birdies against two bogeys in his closing round.
A total of 28 players from a field of 123 progressed from Pre-Qualifying II, where the cut was again set at one-over 143. Bangladesh’s Md Solayeman and Delhi’s Shubham Narain shared second place at five-under 137.
Final Stage
With two Pre-Qualifying rounds complete, the stage is set for the final Pre-Qualifying event, which will take place from January 31 to February 1. The top finishers from all three rounds will join the 48 exempt players in the 72-hole Final Stage, which is scheduled to be held from February 4-7, featuring a field of the top 120 players and ties.
The top 80 players and ties will make the halfway cut after two rounds of the Final Stage. At the end of the Final Stage, the top 32 and ties will earn their full cards for the 2025 PGTI season. The Final Stage offers a total prize purse of INR 5 Lakh.
