Tiger Woods is playing his second event of the year this week

Tiger Woods, who has not been seen in action since the Masters at Augusta, where he amazingly made the cut but limped through the weekend, will be seen in action at a charity pro-am being held in Ireland as a warm up for the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews.

The Pro-Am, a two-day event that will be played on July 4-5, includes 10 of the world’s top 12 at the 2027 Ryder Cup course at Adare Manor.

JP McManus, the organiser of the event, raises millions for charities in the Mid-West region of Ireland with the support of the players.

The Pro-Am has helped raise over €140 million for charity since its inception in 1990 and this year’s edition is expected to raise another huge sum.

A field of 50 professionals, which includes LPGA Tour star Leona Maguire, will compete in two events — 36-hole stroke play tournament for the pros only and a 36-hole nett team event. The team format for the Pro-Am element is a Shamble, (a version of a Texas Scramble) where the amateur must score a net birdie (or better) to contribute to the team score.

The field includes those on the official tours as well as the LIV Series. Among the notable participants are Rory McIlroy, Colin Morikawa, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, all of whom have stayed loyal to the PGA Tour, as well as Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson, who have switched their allegiance to the LIV Tour.

All eyes will be on Tiger to see how his body holds up in his return to competing on the world stage.
