Tokyo Olympics
A lot like Diksha Dagar, Udayan Mane too got to Tokyo after a last minute withdrawal by Argentinian Emiliano Grillo. Mane started the first round well but then struggled to the finish, dropping 5 strokes on his back 9 to open with a 76. After that, respectable rounds of 69-70-72 allowed him to finish on 3 over 287 and gain confidence that he could hold his own in perhaps the strongest field he has ever competed in.
What’s notable about Mane’s journey to Tokyo is that his world ranking points were earned entirely playing in India, thanks to PGTI events being awarded world ranking points since 2018, a great honour and recognition of the quality of the tour and level of our domestic competition.
