17 year old high school student of Indian origin, Megha Ganne, who made headlines at the 2021 US Women’s Open by contending and playing in the final group on the final day, was invited to play the US$ 1.75mn Shoprite LPGA Classic in New Jersey, close to where she lives.
Organisers paired her for two days in the same group as Indian Olympian Aditi Ashok and Maria Fassi of Mexico, one of the longest hitters on tour to create a feature group.
Megha shot 70-76 (4-over 146) to miss the cut along with Aditi while Fassi registered a 5th place finish.
Megha who is currently ranked 28th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) has already accepted a scholarship to Stanford University where she intends to play four years of college golf before deciding to turn pro.
