27-year-old Veer Ahlawat from Gurgaon, who has shown consistent form the past two seasons on the Asian Tour, finished tied-20th at the US$1mn Kolon Korea Open with rounds of 72-70-72-72, totaling 2-over 286. This finish moved Ahlawat to 55th on the Asian Tour rankings, making him the highest-ranked Indian so far ahead of Chandigarh’s Ajeetesh Sandhu.
In 2024, Ahlawat has made three cuts in five appearances, with a best-finish of tied-13th at the Malaysian Open in February. Last year, he finished 52nd on the Asian Tour rankings, retaining his playing rights for the 2024 season, being among the top 65.
The Asian Tours next event will be the US$ 2mn International Series Morocco from July 4-7. Former college player Rayhan Thomas, recently turned pro will play on a sponsor’s invitation. Joining him will be a strong Indian contingent, including Gaganjeet Bhullar, Karandeep Kochhar, Chikkarangappa S., Rashid Khan, Veer Ahlawat, Ajeetesh Sandhu, Jeev Milkha Singh, S.S.P. Chawrasia, Shiv Kapur, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Honey Baisoya, Khalin Joshi, and Kartik Sharma.
