Arjun Atwal
48-year-old Arjun Atwal, still the only Indian to win on the PGA Tour, shot 70-72-75-71 (4-over 288) to make the cut and finish tied-71st at the US$ 6.5mn Bermuda Championship .
Atwal, who has a limited PGA Tour card with Category 35 (Past winners) exemption is gearing up for his debut in 2023 on the lucrative PGA Champions’ Tour for players over 50 years of age and is expected to win there in his first year considering his enhanced fitness and form.
Anirban Lahiri, the other Indian in the field at Bermuda missed the cut by 3 shots but is coming off a decent 2020-21 season where his 118th place finish on the PGA Tour rankings gives him another year of exempt status on the world’s richest tour. Lahiri will next be playing the US$ 7.2mn Mayakoba event in Mexico from Nov. 4-7.
