Vredestein AVT Champions Tour begins tomorrow

The most awaited senior’s golf event – the Vredestein –  AVT Champions Tour Kolkata is all set to return at the historic, pristine and challenging – Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) starting tomorrow.

RCGC has been a preferred venue for many Indian Opens on the Asian Tour  in the past and continues to be a popular stop for the domestic professional tour, PGTI.

100 golfers, including 85 from out of the city have travelled for the event and are raring to test themselves at the hallowed RCGC course. Arvind Khanna, a former India International and one handicap golfer from Delhi GC is favoured to win the two round 36 hole stroke play event being played on Wednesday &  Thursday (Nov. 10-11). He is expected to face a challenge from Delhi veterans Gangesh Khaitan & Vijay Kumar besides Shivas Nath from Mumbai and local RCGC club members Gaurav Ghosh & Sanjiv Mehra.

Some of the illustrious golfers to look out for are former Asian Games gold medalists Lakshman Singh and Rishi Narain, former All India Senior’s Champions Gangesh Khaitan &  Vijay Kumar besides internationals Jaspreet Bakshi and Col. GC Sharma of Chandigarh and Col  Anil Jule of delhi .Another former National Champion making his debut on the Senior Tour is Alan Singh.
