100 senior golfers over age 50 teed off at the Vredestein Tyres Champions Golf at Oxford Golf Resort in Pune, the 3rd event of the 2021-22 AVT Champions Tour season.
The course was in immaculate condition and weather conditions were ideal despite a brief fog delay in Round two.
Chandigarh’s Sandeep Sandhu staged a bold challenge shooting 3 under par on the final nine to pip overnight leader Manish Jaitha of Pune by a single shot in a keen contest.
A large contingent of players travelled in from across the country to participate in the popular tournament series which is played in the individual gross strokeplay format. The AVT Champions tour series also incorporates a four member city team competition which takes the best 3 out of 4 scores each day.
The Delhi NCR team led by captain Gangesh Khaitan’s 75 took the team gross prize making up 14 strokes in the 2nd round on the overnight leaders from Pune.
All players were required to register with RTPCR reports and only a handful of caddies, also tested, were permitted.
