Sneha Singh with Indraneel Mujgule (L) and Ikram Khan (R) from Pune Golf Club
2023 Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (HWPGT) Rankings #1, Sneha Singh is making a statement at the onset of this season with her dominant form that has secured her the second consecutive title in the early stages of the tour. A flawless 5-under 66 in the final round of the third leg at Poona Club Golf Course helped her overturn a five-stroke deficit to edge out veteran player Vani Kapoor in a closely contested finish.
Trailing by five shots at the start of the final round, Sneha methodically closed the gap with crucial birdies and holed a decisive 25-foot uphill putt on the 18th hole to seal the victory. Vani, who had carded a 66 in the previous round, struggled to maintain momentum and finished with a 1-over 72.
Last year’s HWPGT Rankings winner Hitaashee Bakshi carded a bogey-free 2-under 69 to finish third, while Mysore’s Vidhatri Urs posted a 1-under 70 to secure fourth. Chandigarh’s Amandeep Drall, who had been in contention earlier, slipped to tied-fifth after a 75, sharing the spot with Gurugram’s Kriti Chowhan. 5-time WPGT winner Seher Atwal finished seventh.
Sneha is in pole position at the top of the HWPGT Rankings with total earnings of Rs. 4,48,400. The season-opener winner Rhea Purvi, who finished 17th in Pune, holds second place with Rs. 2,73,000.
The tour will be in Mumbai this week at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club for the fourth leg of the season from February 24-27, where a record 40 players have confirmed their participation.
