Yuvraj Sandhu, the 25-year-old from Chandigarh, shot amazing rounds of 67-65-61-66 (21-under 259) to win the PGTI event at Tollygunge Club breaking the earlier 72 hole record of 18 under. Sandhu and runner up Viraj Madappa engaged in a thrilling duel throughout the final round before Sandhu made a stupendous 27ft birdie putt on the 18th green to edge out Madappa, who shot 64-70-62-64 (20-under 260) by one stroke.
The previous record of 18-under 262 was set by Anirban Lahiri (PGTI Players Championship 2011) and matched by Md Zamal Hossain Mollah (Bengal Open 2019).

Although Sandhu started the final round in the lead, Madappa, an Asian Tour winner, quickly turned the tables with six birdies over his first 13 holes to take a three-shot lead with just five holes to play. A bogey on the 14th cut Madappa’s lead to two before both players birdied the 15th. Then, on the 16th, Sandhu holed his 99 yard approach for a stunning eagle and both were level. Both players parred the 17th before Sandhu holed the long winning putt on the 72nd hole.
Sandhu’s winning cheque of Rs 8 lacs, his second win in four months, lifted him to second place in the PGTI Order of Merit.
