Luxury watch retailer Time Avenue, in collaboration with Swiss Watchmaker Omega, hosted a soirée celebrating pioneering Women’s Professional Golfer Smriti “Simi” Mehra, to honour her groundbreaking career and enduring contributions to Indian Women’s Golf.
Simi holds the distinction of being the first Indian woman to compete on the LPGA Tour. At a time when golf in India remained an elite and male-dominated sport, Mehra broke barriers, securing her place among the best on the international stage. Her career highlights include multiple international tour victories, a top-5 finish at the British Open in 1998, and representing India at the 2008 World Cup in South Africa. Her success was not just personal; it laid the foundation for the rise of women’s golf in India.

Simi has also played a vital, active role in the development of women’s golf in India. As a co-founder of the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI), she has been instrumental in establishing a structured professional circuit, mentoring young players, and advocating for better opportunities for female golfers. Her commitment to fostering talent has shaped the careers of many who now compete at the national and international levels.
