Pro Golf – The Open
38-year-old South African Louis Oosthuizen followed his first round 64 with a bogey free 5-under 65 on Day 2, taking his total at 11-under par at Royal St. George’s, two shot ahead of Collin Morikawa who held the lead earlier.
Oosthuizen’s 11-under 129 total is a new 36-hole record at The Open, earlier set by Sir Nick Faldo in 1992 in Muirfield and equaled by Brandt Snedeker in 2012 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
The South African already has two runner-up finishes to his name at previous two majors, but looks set to run away with the trophy in the final major of the year. He is now paired to tee-off with last year’s PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa today.
