Pro Golf – European Tour
Shubhankar Sharma continued his recent fine run of form in Europe finishing tied-9th with scores of 70-71-68-68 (11-under 277), five shots behind the winner.
The final round four-under 68 saw Sharma post four birdies on his front-nine and was in the mix for the title, but the much tougher back-nine slowed him down. He finished 16th last week at the Hero Open in Scotland. Sharma earned US$ 27,000 (₹19.7 lacs) taking his total European tour season winnings to US$ 189,500 (₹1.4 crores) for the season moving him to 115 in the European Tour rankings where the top 128 automatically retain their playing privileges on the Tour in 2022. In 2021, Sharma has played 20 events, made 11 cuts and has two Top-10 finishes so far and the Tour has another 11 weeks to go.
Other Indians in the field – Gaganjeet Bhullar shot 73-72 (+1) to miss the cut set at 1-under par by two strokes, followed by SSP Chawrasia (75-71) and Shiv Kapur (76-70) who missed the cut with totals of 2-over par and Ajeetesh Sandhu finished with 76-76.
While Gaganjeet Bhullar and Shubhankar Sharma are taking a break from next week’s US$ 1.2mn Czech Masters, the trio of Ajeetesh Sandhu, Shiv Kapur and SSP Chawrasia are headed towards Czech Republic for the tournament from August 19-22.
