Shubhankar Sharma: Another season in Europe

Shubhankar Sharma will be looking for a breakthrough in 2025

Two-time European (DP World) Tour winner and India’s top-ranked male golfer, Shubhankar Sharma, concluded 2024 ranked No. 215 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), a drop from his starting position of No. 191 at the year’s outset. Competing in 25 tournaments, predominantly on the European (DP World) Tour, Sharma made the cut in 13 events, lacking the consistency he demonstrated in 2023.

Keeping his playing rights in Europe for an 8th successive season is no mean achievement and we hope that Sharma’s steadfast attitude and family support sees him through to a strong comeback in 2025.

Sharma’s highlights included a tied-20th finish at the prestigious Open Championship at Royal Troon and a tied-5th finish at the Italian Open, where his accurate iron play was on full display. However, his inability to put together all four rounds often resulted in missed opportunities.

Statistically, Sharma’s driving accuracy and putting within 10 feet emerged as key weaknesses, while his iron play remained a strong aspect of his game. A mid-season slump further impacted his campaign, with missed cuts at marquee events such as the BMW PGA Championship and Scottish Open on the European (DP World) Tour.

As Sharma sets his sights on 2025, his focus will likely shift toward refining his short game and enhancing consistency across all facets of his play.
