18-year-old Jahanvi Bakshi, joined her younger sister Hitashee as the first sister duo to win on the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour (Hero WPGT), shooting 71-69-72 (-4, 212) at DLF GC to win by four over Vani Kapoor.
Jahanvi and Hitashee both turned professional last November and the younger Hitashee won in just her second pro start at ITC Classic a few weeks later.
Jahanvi, said she takes inspiration from legendary American football coach Vince Lombardi’s famous quote, “Winning means you’re willing to go longer, work harder and give more than anyone else.” This is what she keeps in her mind while training for her tournaments. The win results from her positive outlook and training she has been receiving under Anitya Chand of DLF Golf & Country Club.
Jahanvi added ₹1,30,000 to her career earnings to move to 13th on the latest Hero Order of Merit with over ₹4.8 lakh in total.
Younger sister Hitaashee Bakshi (71-73-73) finished tied 3rd with Tvesa Malik (71-77-69), at 1-over 217, followed by 14-year-old amateur Avani Prashant (72-76-71) who already has a pro title to her name .
