Juniors Bring Laurels

A total of 34 junior golfers, aged between 9- 18 years from across the country made up the Indian contingent for the 18th True Vision International Jr Golf Championship, 2019 in Thailand. The four-day team and individual tournament ran from April 9-12 and is recognized by R&A for WAGR and by Junior Score Board, USA.

The tournament saw participation from over 180 junior golfers from 19 countries including Canada, China, Finland, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Norway, Taiwan, Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, England, United States, Vietnam, and Thailand.

A total of over 10 individual and team trophies were won by our juniors at the tournament played in a stroke-play 72 holes (Categories A&B) and 54 holes (Categories C&D) at Siam Golf & CC (Waterside), Chonburi, Pattaya. Notable performances came from 13-year-old Hitaashee Bakshi who shot rounds of 81, 74, 75 and 75 to finish runner-up in Category B and 16-year-old Shreya Pal from Hyderabad, who lost in a playoff to finish runner-up in her Category A as an individual, and was awarded the winner’s trophy (as the winner was given out the Overall Best Girl Trophy). Out of the nine who made the cut, seven stood in Top-10s across their respective categories. Indian girls and boys were divided into two different teams of A/B and C/D consisting of four players each (2 boys and 2 girls each) and returned with a runner-up and second runner-up trophies.
