Ajeetesh Sandh of India is two shots behind at -6
33-year-old, Asian Tour winner, Ajeetesh Sandhu of Chandigarh shot 1-over 73 in windy conditions today to remain two strokes behind Nitithorn Thippong of Thailand at 6-under 210 heading into the final round of The DGC Open tomorrow.
Ajeetesh, playing in the final group of the day, was making the most of a hard day at the office. His priceless moment of the day was the eagle-three on Par-5 14th and that brought him within one of the lead. But he dropped a shot on 15th and finished with three pars for 73.
Said Sandhu, “I hung in there today, didn’t really have my best day. Off the tee, with the irons, and with the putter, everything was kind of average. But I’m glad I’m still up there and I’ll have a shot to win tomorrow, so that means a lot. I think you have to take your medicine once you hit it in the bushes here. You can’t be too aggressive from there. The eagle on 14 was probably the best I played today and that was one of the only putts that I made today.”

25-year-old Nitithorn Thippong of Thailand shot 2-under 70 for the day to take charge of the leaderboard ahead of the final round scheduled tomorrow.

Settee Prangonvech, another Thai player in the field shot 2-under 70 today to remain in solo third on the leaderboard at 5-under 211.
Gaganjeet Bhullar was in sole possession of fourth place on 4-under 212 while overnight leader Veer Ahlawat had six bogeys against no birdies in a card of 78 and dropped into a tie for fifth place alongside M. Dharma of Bengaluru on 3-under 213.

The lowest score of the day was three-under 69 fired by India’s Sachin Baisoya, Filipino Justin Quiban (both tied eighth at one-under 215), India’s SSP Chawrasia (tied 16th at one-over 217) and Singapore’s Jesse Yap (tied 21st at two-over 218).
Ajeetesh Sandhu is in prime position to win his second Asian Tour title tomorrow and hopes to get it done and added, “I’m excited for tomorrow. Two shots in this course doesn’t mean anything. It’s one swing and you can turn it around so you have to be patient tomorrow, you have to keep on playing your own game.”

The 33-year-old from Chandigarh last won on Asian Tour in October 2017 after shooting 12-under 276 to defeat American Johannes Veerman by a stroke at the Yeangder Tournament Players Championship in Taipei.
In 2019, Sandhu had earned a conditional status on the Japan Golf Tour, which got extended until 2023 due to COVID-19 pandemic and he already has plans to play three events in Japan next month.
