Mastercard as the presenting sponsor of the DGC Open in its inaugural year already puts the event on the world map due to the international credentials of the brand.
Mastercard is best known in the golf world for its presenting sponsorship of one of the PGA Tour’s flagship events – the Arnold Palmer Invitational, held at the famous Bay Hill Club in Orlando, Florida which offers US$ 12mn in prize money; a tournament made famous by Tiger Woods multiple dramatic victories on the 18th hole.
Mastercard is also a partner of the PGA TOUR and the (British) Open Championship.
Mastercard brand ambassadors on Tour include India’s Anirban Lahiri, former Fedex Cup champion Brandt Snedeker, Scotsman Graeme McDowell, England’s Ryder cup superstar Ian Poulter, 5 time British Open winner Tom Watson, former world no 1 Justin Rose, former Masters champion Mark O’Meara , two time US Open winner Curtis Strange, legendary LPGA superstar Annika Sorenstam of Sweden, Canadian star Brooke Henderson and current PGA stars Max Homa and Sam Burns who won the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship last week.
